[www.inewsguyana.com] – A 27-year-old miner was remanded to prison by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry for the unlawful possession of firearm and ammunition.
Rickford Atwell Shepherd pleaded not guilty to the charge, which alleged that said on April 28 at Arangoy Landing, he had in his possession one 9 mm semi automatic pistol, when he is not a licensed firearm holder.
He also denied that on the same day at Arangoy Landing, he had in his possession two live rounds of matching ammunition. The court heard that on the day in question, ranks acting on information, visited Shepherd’s shop and conducted a search when the weapon was found under a mattress.
He was remanded to prison and the matter was transferred to Kamarang Magistrate’s Court for May 15.
