[www.inewsguyana.com] – A 31-year-old man of Lot 169 Middle Road, Georgetown, was on Wednesday, April 08, 2015 remanded to prison by Magistrate Fabayo Azore following six charges relating to the Bourda Post office robbery.
Stravo Evans is accused of being in the gang who carried out a multi-million dollar robbery on the vehicle which was delivering cash to the Post Office.
He was not required to plead to the offences, one of which said that on Wednesday, April 01 at Regent Street, Georgetown, being armed with a gun he robbed Andre July of one G3 rifle and 20 rounds of ammunition valued together at $688,000, along with $42, 522, 000 cash, property of the Guyana Post Office Corporation (GPOC).
It is alleged that on the same day at Regent Street, being in company of others he robbed Darwin Hinds of one mini bus valued over $3.5 M, property of the GPOC. He was also charged with restraining and abducting Police Officers Darwin Hinds and Andre July.
Police prosecutor Simone Payne disclosed that on the day in question around 07:45 hrs Hinds drove the mini bus PSS 5641 to the post office where they were ambushed by the accused along with five others. The attackers pushed the driver out of the seat before tying up July and the police officer.
They then drove the bus to Cemetery Road to a waiting white fielder motor car and made good their escape with the car along with the money, gun and ammunition.
Evans was represented by Attorney at Law Peter Hugh.
The matter was adjourned to April 13, before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry.
They will always get bail, this thief should have been out of the crime career long now. sad to say when they get shoot the public cry JUSTICE, So recycle them.
