A commercial flight heading from from Cebu in the Phillipines, to Busan in South Korea, was forced to turn back 40 minutes into the flight when the crew realized one of the plane doors was ajar. The Jin Air flight was carrying 163 passengers and had reached an altitude of 10,000 feet when flight staff heard a noise (perhaps the sound of breathable oxygen being sucked into the atmosphere?) and realized that the front left door was not fully shut. Fortunately, the pilot was able to turn the plane around and land it safely in Cebu without any injuries, although a few passengers feeling nauseous during the trip back to the Philippines.
Jin Air, a Korean subsidiary, put all passengers up in a hotel for the night before attempting the flight again the following day, this time without incident. To make up for the heavily delayed flight and (presumably) for putting their lives at risk, Jin Air gave each passenger 100,000 won (about US$84), which will hopefully cover their ensuing therapy session.
