[www.inewsguyana.com] – A man was this morning (Wednesday, October 1), remanded to prison when he appeared in the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court to answer to a simple larceny charge before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine – Beharry.
John Kelvin of Meadow Brook Squatting Area denied the charge when it was read to him.It is alleged that on Tuesday, September 30, he stole two car shacks which belonged to Eon Grant.
He claimed that he saw the shacks in a rubbish bin, assuming it was garbage, and proceeded to pick it up.
He said he was subsequently confronted by the Virtual Complainant who said the items belonged to him. An argument ensued and Kelvin is alleging that he was assaulted by Grant in the process. He claimed that Grant tore his jersey to shreds.
Police Prosecutor, Michael Grant objected to the defendant’s statements; saying he was caught in the act of removing the shacks from the car.
He was then remanded to prison.
“shacks” indeed!
