In light of the recent resignations being submitted to the Mayor and City Council (M&CC) by Salima Bacchus-Hinds who occupied the lone seat representing Team Benschop and Tameshwar Budhoo, who represented the People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C), two new Councillors were sworn in on Monday to fill the vacant seats.
The Councillor who will now be representing the PPP/C was identified as Khame Prakash Sharma while Selwyn Smartt will be representing Team Benschop.
Approximately two months ago, Tameshwar Budhoo resigned from the M&CC explaining that he intended to pursue further studies abroad.
For her part, Salima Bacchus-Hinds resigned with hardly any explanation, but she later took to social media to lambast Mayor Patricia Chase-Greene and other Councillors for their lack of transparency regarding the Parking Meter Contract.
