Sixty – year – old Ervin Griffith; a mason of Lamaha Park appeared before magistrate Ann Mc Lennan charged with assault.
Griffith pleaded not guilty to the offence which he allegedly committed against Dion Graham. The court was told that on July 15 at Lamaha Park Griffith assaulted Graham.
Police prosecutor Bharrat Mangru said on the day of the incident both parties had a misunderstanding when the accused pulled out a cellular phone from the virtual complainant’s hand and in the process, touched her.
The prosecutor said Graham in return dealt the man several lashes with a pot spoon.
Meanwhile Dion Graham was also charged with assault. She pleaded not guilty to the offence and told the court that she does not want to proceed with the matter. In view of this the magistrate dismissed both matters and placed both parties on 12 months bond to keep the peace. Failure to do this will result each having to spend 12 months in prison.
