Police have in custody a 44-year-old unemployed male resident of Williamsburg after he reportedly wounded two brothers, resulting in the death of one during an altercation.
According to the police, around 02:20h on Sunday, Vishram Mohabir, 19, a labourer of 258 Williamsburg, Corentyne witnessed the suspect, armed with a knife, wounding his brother Kunal Singh ,30, at which point he intervened and was stabbed multiple times, twice to his neck, once to the right and once to the left side.
The victims were rushed to the Port Mourant Public Hospital where Kunal Singh was treated and sent away and his brother Mohabir was transferred to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital where he died about 05:00hrs,whilst receiving treatment.
The suspected murder weapon, a knife, has been retrieved.
The arrested 44-year-old suspect, the Police noted, is assisting with the ongoing investigation.
