A man was tragically stabbed to death moments after an altercation with another at Santa Mission, Kamuni River, Region Three (Essequibo Islands-West Demerara) on Monday morning. The dead man has been identified as Joseph Jaundoo, 42 of Santa Mission.
According to reports received, at about 1:00h on Monday morning, both Jaundoo and the suspect were at a wake house where an argument ensued between them. The argument quickly turned into a scuffle which ended after the intervention of other persons.
The now dead man reportedly left the wake house and went home but as he was standing on his stairs, he was attacked and stabbed several times to his body by the same man with whom he had the argument.
Jaundoo fell to the ground by which time his relatives raised an alarm. He was picked up and rushed to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre but was pronounced dead on arrival.
INews understands that both men might have been under the influence of alcohol.
The suspect has been arrested and is expected to be charged with murder shortly. A knife suspected to be the murder weapon has been retrieved as police continue their investigations.
