A miner is now hospitalised after he was stabbed during an argument with another man at Eye Lash Backdam, North West District (NWD), Region One (Barima-Waini) on Tuesday.
The injured man has been identified as 53-year-old Thomas James of Eye Lash Backdam.
Based on information received about 07:00h on the day in question, the suspect and the victim, who are known to each other, were involved in a heated argument. The suspect subsequently armed himself with a piece of wood with a sharpened instrument attached to it and dealt the victim one stab to the right side of his chest.
As a result, James fell to the ground and started to bleed profusely. He was picked up by his daughter and taken to the Pakera District Hospital at Matthews Ridge where he was admitted.
His condition is regarded as stable. An investigation is underway.
