[www.inewsguyana.com] – Twenty-three-year-old Deandre Kirk of Lot 34 Owen Street, South Cummingsburg, Georgetown was on Friday, April 17 refused bail by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry after pleading not guilty to two counts of robbery with personal violence.
The labourer is accused of robbing Sheeba Vishnu of a gold chain valued $55,000 and a gold ring valued $167,000 while he was in the company of another on March 29 at Water Street, Georgetown. It is also alleged that at the time of, before or immediately after he made use of personal violence to Vishnu.
It is also alleged that on the said day, at Water Street, he also robbed another man whose only name was given as ‘Bishoo’ of cash $53,000 and he also made use of personal violence against her.
The unrepresented man was denied bail on the grounds of the nature and penalty of the offences. The matter was transferred before Magistrate Fabayo Azore for May 6.
