A 43-year-old horse cart operator was on Thursday taken into police custody after he discharged a loaded firearm at a vendor who reportedly untied his horse at West Ruimveldt, Georgetown.
According to police information, the incident occurred at about 02:15h. Inews was told that the suspect reportedly tied his horse in front of the home belonging to the vendor, Srinwell Campbell.
However, the vendor untied the animal and released it.
As such, the horse cart owner became annoyed and retaliated by arming himself with a small gun and went to Campbell’s home. The suspect then broke down the vendor’s door and discharging a few rounds in his direction.
Fortunately, the vendor managed to flee the scene unharmed. The matter was immediately reported and the suspect was apprehended but while being transported to the police station, he reportedly jumped out of moving vehicle thus resulting in him receiving injuries.
As such, he was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was treated and handed over to the police.
