Forty – four – year old Sheik Mohamed who has no fixed place of abode made his first court appearance before Magistrate Fabayo Azore to answer a threatening language charge.
Mohamed pleaded guilty to the offence which read that on August 19 at 58 Back Street Houston East Bank Demerara he threatened to kill Pamela Alfred.
The prosecution’s case disclosed that on the day of the incident, the accused who is said to be an alcoholic and the Virtual Complainant had a misunderstanding during which Mohamed threatened to kill the complainant.
However, when Mohamed was given the opportunity to speak, he told the court that he was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.
Without much deliberation the Magistrate related that she took into consideration the seriousness of the offence and the fact that the accused was under the influence of alcohol and sentenced Mohamed to one month imprisonment. [Royan Abrams]
