Man sentenced to 20 days of Community Service for cannabis possession

Twenty – two – year old Daniel Lall appeared before Magistrate Judy Latchman charged with possession of narcotics.

Lall pleaded guilty to the offence which stated that on August 04 in Georgetown, he had 3 grams of cannabis on his possession. Police prosecutor Vishnu Hunt related to the court that on the day in question the accused, who was a pillion rider on a bike was stopped and searched during which the cannabis was found hidden in his pants waist.

When Lall was given the opportunity to speak; he told the Court that his friend came out from the interior and offered him the illegal substance. The man apologized for committing such an offence and told the Court that it will not happen again.

Daniel Lall was fined $3,000 and 20 days of community service at the Kitty Police Station. He is to return to court on August 30 to report on whether or not he has been doing the community service.[Royan Abrams]
