Man robbed on Thomas St by armed duo who also wanted his motorcycle

A 37-year-old construction worker was on Wednesday evening robbed of one eight penny weight gold ring- valued at $40,000- by two men- one reportedly armed with a black handgun- in the vicinity of Thomas Street, Georgetown.

The victim has been identified as Kelvin James of East La Penitence, Georgetown.

Based on information received, the incident occurred at about 21:45h.

Enquiries disclosed that the victim left home riding his motorcycle, CH 9968, to visit his friend at Thomas street.

When James arrived at the friend’s home, he reportedly parked his motorcycle on the western side of the street before proceeding to converse with the said friend, on their bridge.

At that point, the two perpetrators reportedly approached the duo from a northern direction, on foot, and demanded that James hand over his gold ring and motorcycle keys.

INews understands that the bandits managed to retrieve the ring before the victim began to run and raised an alarm by shouting “thief.”

The perpetrators then made good their escape on foot.

The matter was reported to the police.

This publication understands that one of the suspects has been identified by the victim as “Spanner.”

Investigations are ongoing.
