[www.inewsguyana.com] – Twenty – four – year old Kenrick Duncan of West Ruimveldt, Georgetown appeared before Magistrate Fabayo Azore charged with robbery underarms. Duncan was not required to plead to the charge which read that on September 10 at Wellington and Charlotte Streets Georgetown, he in the company of others and armed with a gun, attacked and robbed a Chinese national operating a business in Guyana of several items including local and foreign currency totaling $41.4 million.
According to the prosecution’s case, on the day in question at about 04:20 hours, the complainant was in his bed when his door was kicked in by five men, two of whom were armed with guns.
The prosecutor said the men assaulted the complainant and his relatives and demanded cash and other items. Meanwhile, on September 21 acting on information received, the police went to the accused home where they conducted a search and found a few of the stolen items and as a result the accused admitted to committing the offence against the complainant.
