[www.inewsguyana.com] – A 27 – year – old man of Sideline Dam La Penitence, Georgetown, was refused bail by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine – Beharry for attempted robbery and discharging a loaded firearm.

Eon Ambrose pleaded not guilty to both charges, one of which alleged that on February 02 at Middle Road, La Penitence, he attempted to rob Omar Bynoe.

Particulars of the other offence alleged that on the same day at Middle Road, he unlawfully and maliciously discharged a loaded firearm on Bynoe with intent to maim, disfigure or cause harm.

Police Prosecutor Michael Grant, informed the Court that the virtual complainant (VC) worked at Bhena’s footwear and on the day in question around 16:00 hrs, he was dropping off a fellow employee at La Penitence, when the defendant armed with a gun approached the victim’s car and struck him to his right side shoulder. Subsequently, he was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) for medical examination.

Investigation was carried and the defendant was arrested and later identified by Bynoe on an Identification parade.

Grant successfully opposed bail on the nature, gravity and prevalence of the offence. He noted that Bynoe is a licensed firearm holder and extreme violence was used in the commission of the offence.

The Prosecutor’s objection was upheld and the matter was transferred before Magistrate Fabayo Azore for statements on November 13.
