An afternoon swim turned deadly for a man who plunged to his death off the Kitty Seawall on Sunday.
Reports are that sometime around 12:30hrs, the lifeless body of Ramesh Ramdeen, 52, also called ‘Rabbi’ of Lot 106 Shell Road, Kitty, Georgetown, was fished out of the Atlantic Ocean shortly after he was seen getting into the water.
The dead man’s brother said he received a call sometime after 12:00hrs and was informed of his older brother’s death.
According to the younger Ramdeen, his brother, who had neither wife nor children, would usually spend time at the Kitty Seawall doing odd jobs. He could not say what his brother was doing there at the time. “Years ago he was a very good swimmer, but for the past ten years he has not been swimming,” the brother said.
He said he was told by an eyewitness, who was also a close friend of the dead man, that Ramesh had passed him on the seawall going to swim. He said a few young boys who also went to swim informed him that “a man drowning out deh”.
