[www.inewsguyana.com] – A man, who allegedly choked a little boy, was sent for a psychiatric evaluation after appearing before Magistrate Alex Moore on Thursday, March 19.
Leyland Murray refused to answer to the charge of unlawful assault, when it was read to him by the Magistrate. Particulars of the charge stated that on March 17 at Lot 169 Middle Road La Penitence, he unlawfully assaulted Kevin Ceaser.
According to the prosecution, the defendant choked the child and lifted him in the air, before attempting to throw him in a drain. The Court heard that he threatened to kill the child.
According to the victim’s mother, the defendant is of unsound mind and usually portrays violent outbursts.
She also informed the Court that it is habitual for the accused to catch dogs and severely rape them, something she said she claimed for herself.
Magistrate Moore lamented that Murray may be more in need of help than punishment. On that note he sent the defendant for a psychiatric evaluation.
The matter was adjourned and he will make his next court appearance on April 22.
