A man who used threatening behaviour towards his mother was jailed for three months when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts before Magistrate Annette Singh.
It is alleged that Kevin Christopher on April 12, 2016 at Houston, East Bank Demerara, he made use of threatening language against Usha Balkaran, his mother.
According to the prosecution’s facts, on the day in question, the defendant, who is an alleged drug addict, went to his mother’s residence and asked for food which she refused to give him.
This refusal angered the man who began to ‘curse’ (use expletives) at his mother threatening to end her life.
During the trial on Tuesday, the man was found guilty of the offence and sentenced to prison.
Magistrate Singh told the defendant that if he were to appear before her again, he would be given the maximum penalty.
