A man is now in critical condition at the hospital after he was struck down by a motor car last night, on the Number 54 Public Road, Corentyne.
Reports are that at approximately 22:30hrs, motor car HC 5741 was allegedly speeding when it collided into Grafton Clark, who was a pedestrian on the road.
Inews was informed that upon impact, Clark “pitched” some distance away and received injuries to his head. He was subsequently rushed to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital.
According to the driver for the motor car, identified as Shane Fraser of Number 51 Village, Corentyne, he was travelling north on the western carriageway when the front of his vehicle struck Clark.
Police submitted Fraser to a breathalyser test and reported that no alcohol was found in his system. He is presently in custody assisting with the investigations.
Most of these motorists have no regard for the pedestrians. We need more speed bumps and slow down signs. I was almost killed by a speeding motorist . I waited for almost 75 mins to cross the street , because I had three children under the age of twelve .with me. The motorist look me dead in my eyes and said get of the fuc…. road. I dreamt this man twice . I pray for him because he should not be driving . I hope the speed be reduced it would save lives.
