[www.inewsguyana.com] – Leroy Williams appeared before Magistrate Judy Latchman and pleaded not guilty to the charge of simple larceny.
It is alleged that on September 28 at Croal Street, Georgetown he stole one gold band valued at $90,000 property of Jacqueline Toney.
Police prosecutor Vishnu Hunt told the court that on the day of the incident, the accused came from behind and snatched the complainant’s chain after which he tried to escape but was subsequently arrested by public spirited citizens who gave chase after the robbery.
Based on the nature and prevalence of such crimes, the prosecutor objected to bail and the Magistrate remanded Williams to prison until October 07. [Royan Abrams]
