A New Amsterdam man was, earlier today (Thursday), busted with a quantity of cannabis sativa (ganja) along the Corentyne highway in Berbice.
Reports are that a Police Lance Corporal and three ranks made the bust while conducting random routine checks. They stopped and searched a minibus bearing registration number BVV 2700 where a 45-year-old man of Ferry Street, New Amsterdam was a passenger. At the time he was carrying a haversack which contained a black plastic bag in which 1.68 kg of the illicit substance was found.
He was arrested and taken to the Number 51 Village Police Station. (Andrew Carmichael)
