...as officers find blag back with drugs next to pig pen
A man who arrived at the Lusignan checkpoint of the prison to deliver court clothes and footwear for a prisoner to attend court on Monday ended up escaping from the prison guards after the footwear that he dropped off had the equivalent of four packs of cigarettes and 108 grams of marijuana.
According to Director of Prisons, Gladwin Samuels around 14:30h on Sunday when the man placed the items on the table for the booking to take place, the footwear was observed “to be looking funny.”
At this point Samuels said that the man, who recognized that something was wrong, took off running with his ID card.
However, he noted that the officer was able to observe his physical description and will provide same to the police.
Moreover, it was later determined which prisoner the items were intended for.
Meanwhile, at the Lusignan prison ranks were conducting security checks around 9:30h on Sunday when they observed a black bag in a drain next to the pig pen.
According to Samuels the bag was opened, searched and marijuana, lighters and other items were found.
Investigations are currently ongoing.
