[www.inewsguyana.com] – Tony Marcus [no address given], was today committed to stand trial at the High Court for attempt to commit murder.

He was informed by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry that a Prima Facie case was made out against him for the indictable offence, which alleged that on July 6 at McDoom, East Bank Demerara, with intent to commit murder, he chopped Etwaroo Narine.

The matter was prosecuted by Police Inspector Michael Grant and six witnesses inclusive of two Police Officers testified on behalf of the prosecution.

During his first appearance on July 28, the Court heard that the virtual complainant (VC) was imbibing at a shop when the accused asked him for money. An argument ensued and Marcus allegedly chopped him several times.

Marcus remains on remand.
