The Police say that two persons are currently in custody assisting with the investigation, while the two rifles are currently being examined by the Guyana Police Force’s Firearm Examination Experts.
Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum had confirmed that the high powered rifles were found, but he could not confirm the calibers. He however, said that members of the Major Crimes Unit have travelled to the area and were questioning the occupant of the house. He also said the weapons have been lodged at the CID Headquarters in Georgetown as investigations continue.
This publication understands that, acting on information received, the police swooped down on the businessman’s house and conducted a search, unearthing the weapons inside a duffer bag, hidden under a commercial gas stove. A source had disclosed that from the condition of the weapons, they probably had not been used in a while.
Based on reports gathered, the suspect might have been keeping the weapons for a known drug dealer.
