[www.inewsguyana.com] – A businessman who opted to remain anonymous is claiming that his maid has stolen approximately $8M in currency from him and has gone into hiding.
He identified the woman as 28 – year – old Farzana Dhanpaul of Better Hope, East Coast Demerara.
The businessman told iNews that Dhanpaul reported for duty at his Ogle, East Coast Demerara home on Thursday, February 27 where she was left alone to carry out her regular duties.
He said he left home along with his wife to go to the Capital City and upon returning, he discovered that the maid along with $7.5M cash and some jewelry were missing.
He said a review of CCTV cameras at the home revealed that the woman took the cash and jewelry and left the house around 9:30hrs the morning.
The matter was reported to the police and the woman’s husband has since been taken into police custody to assist with investigations.
The businessman said the maid’s husband claimed it was a regular thing she would do to him and told police he is unaware of her whereabouts.
