The son of the 75-year-old woman, whose body was discovered in a pool of blood lying on the floor of her home, last night, has reportedly confessed to murdering his mother.
INews was told from a reliable source that the 53-year-old man moments ago allegedly made a confession to investigating ranks while he was being intensely grilled about the circumstances surrounding his elderly mother’s death.
Cecelia Madray had been found with a wound to her head, covered with a mosquito net, in her Good Faith, Mahaicony, East Coast Demerara (ECD) house allegedly inflicted by her son who is a known drug addict.
According to a police source, the dead woman’s son had appeared to be intoxicated at the time of his arrest and it is believed that he had been using an illegal substance which contributed to him becoming “high”.
Around 20:10 hrs last night members of the area’s Community Policing Group (CPG) made the gruesome discovery after they were contacted by Madray’s neighbours who complained of loud noises coming from the now dead woman’s house.
When the CPG members arrived at the location and repeatedly began calling for the woman’s son to come outside, they received no response from him. As such they had no other alternative than to resort to breaking down the door of the house so as to gain access to the building and its occupants.
However, they were not prepared for the gruesome sight which greeted them; Madray’s body was on the bloody floor covered by a mosquito net.
A police source told INews that when the CPG members saw this, they immediately started questioning the woman’s son about the circumstances leading to the woman’s death. He told the CPG members that his mother fell from the stairway of their house. But when the CPG members tried to verify his tale, they did not find any trace of blood on or around the stairway to support his explanation and also realised that Madray’s blood stained body was still somewhat fresh.
He was then arrested and taken into police custody for questioning.
