Minister of Agriculture Dr. Leslie Ramsammy revealed that new skills; techniques and technologies are being introduced at the Guyana Livestock Development Authority [GLDA].
He added that the GLDA will soon be providing pet services to families and farmers. According to Minister Ramsammy, due to the small staff, the authority will not be able to visit every farmer and family, but instead animal clinics will be established across the country.
Minister Ramsammy also noted that meetings will be held with staff of the GLDA to update them on the Animal Welfare Bill which is currently before cabinet.
Dr. Ramsammy is hopeful that by October of this year the Bill be tabled in parliament. [Akash Ramlackhan]
