[www.inewsguyana.com] – The Little Diva Flames Football Club is seeking to organize and execute a tournament for females 24 years and under (u24) during the Mashramani period next year.
Teams which will be invited to participate are Linden, West Demerara, Berbice, East Coast (Buxton), East Bank (Grove), Eagles (Georgetown) & Little Diva Flames (Georgetown).
According to Lawrence “Sparrow” Griffith – President of the club – female football has been struggling to survive in Guyana and to date the lady jags is the only team to participate in the CONCACAF Gold Cup.
Griffith said that for Guyana to have meaningful local representatives on national team there is a need for the females to play regular and competitive football.
Griffith is urging all stakeholders, companies and well wishers who wish to partner with the club to come forward and support this venture.
A budget is being prepared in the interim and will be available by weekend. Meanwhile, the Little Diva’s will recommence training tomorrow at the Georgetown Football Club Ground commencing at 16:00 hrs.
The club has also been invited to participate in Lethem during the Easter weekend in a tournament during the rodeo.
Plans are also in place to hold a fund raising take away lunch January month end.
