A 19-year-old lad who worked as an internet technician was on Sunday afternoon electrocuted whilst conducting his duties at Central Amelia’s Ward, Mackenzie, Linden, Region Ten (Upper Demerara-Berbice).
Dead is Anthony Monroe of Central Amelia’s Ward, Linden.
Reports are that Monroe and colleague, who are employed by Re-Link Wireless Internet Service, were conducting maintenance works at a customer’s residence at the time of the incident.
The duo was in the process of installing a metal pole into the earth’s surface at a location which is within close proximity to a few electrical lamp pole wires.
During the process, the pole made contact with the electric wires, causing both workers to receive electric shock about their bodies.
Monroe died while the other employee survived. In fact, the colleague rushed Monroe to the Linden Hospital Complex where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
A postmortem is expected to be conducted.
