Thirty – year – old Devon Green of Linden appeared before Chief Magistrate Priya Beharry to answer the charge of unlawful wounding.
It is alleged that on July 03 at Aurora Cuyuni River, Essequibo he unlawfully assaulted Ryan Singh. Green pleaded not guilty to the offence. The court was told that on the day in question the accused and the virtual complainant had an argument which stemmed from the accused teasing the virtual [VC] complainant.
The V.C then became annoyed and armed himself with an object while the accused armed himself with a hammer which he used to hit the VC in his head resulting in injuries to both parties.
The accused and the virtual complainant were air dashed to the Georgetown Public Hospital for medical treatment. The Chief Magistrate entered a not guilty plea for the accused and he was placed on $40,000 bail with his next court date set for July 16. [Royan Abrams]
