[www.inewsguyana.com] – Thirty – five – year – old Mugabi Hunte of 467 Wisroc Housing Scheme, Linden was charged for wounding. The defendant was placed on $100,000 bail after he pleaded not guilty to the charge which stated that said on October 19 at Hadfield Street, Georgetown, he wounded Collin Cumberbatch.
Police Sergeant Ramsahoye Rambajue told the court that the virtual complainant and the defendant are known to each other and that on the day in question both parties were standing at Linden Bus Park when a scuffle ensued from a misunderstanding.
The defendant, who was armed with a knife allegedly stabbed the victim to his chest and hip and then ran away. Attorney-at-law Paul Fung-a-Fat represented Hunte and requested reasonable bail while stating that that his client had no knife at the time of the incident.
The lawyer said that there was a fight between the two, but after the defendant pushed the VC, he fell into a drain and injured himself. The Prosecutor did not object to bail and the case will call again, on November 19.
