The lifeless body of a 70-year-old man was found on Wednesday morning along the road side in Garden of Eden, East Bank Demerara.
The dead man was identified as Suresh Mangru of lot 35 Garden of Eden, East Bank Demerara.
Based on reports received, police received an anonymous call at around 04:30hrs today, informing them that Mangru’s body was at the location.
Inews was informed that the injuries on the elderly man’s body are consistent with that of a motor vehicle accident. Moreover, based on the fact that police found no debris where the body was found, it is being speculated that the accident, which led to Mangru’s death, occurred elsewhere and his body was “neatly placed” at the scene.
Police have also confirmed that the body had not been at the location for a long time, as the blood on his face and body appeared to be “almost fresh.”
Inews understands that the elderly man is well known within the village as an alcoholic.
