[www.inewsguyana.com] – A man suspected to have committed several scams in and around Georgetown was today remanded to prison for obtaining money under false pretense.
48-Year-old John Steward of Health Street, Golden Grove, East Bank Demerara was not required to plead to the charge when he appeared before Magistrate Faith Mc Gusty in the Georgetown Magistrates Court.
It was alleged that on September 05 in Georgetown he obtained millions of dollars from several persons after claiming that he was the owner of various plots of land.
According to reports the man who posed as a land and survey representative was apprehended by the police during a sting operation.
Steward was remanded to prison until October 16.
