[www.inewsguyana.com] – A 44 – year – old Labourer who reportedly made off with a quantity of women’s shoes and clothing from his employer was remanded to prison by Magistrate Geeta Chandan-Edmond on a simple larceny charge on Thursday, January 22.
Sheik Mohammed Mustapha pleaded not guilty to the charge which alleged that on January 18 in Georgetown, he stole three pairs of Jeanette Smith’s shoes valued $65,000 and a quantity of her clothing valued $15,000.
Though she presented no facts to the Court, Police Prosecutor Renetta Bentham opposed bail due to the serious nature and prevalence of the offence. She said that Mustapha has no fixed place of abode and the articles were not recovered.
The Prosecutor said the accused provided the police with three different addresses; one of which belonged to the virtual complainant (VC).
Meanwhile, Mustapha said that he had been living in the woman’s house since he was her employee. Bail was refused and the case will be called again on January 30.
