[www.inewsguyana.com] – A 41 – year – old Labourer was remanded to prison on Monday, March 03 after a Court heard that he choked and threatened to kill a woman during a break – in.
Earl Jerome of North Ruimveldt, Georgetown was charged with attempt to commit a felony, breaking and entering and assault. He pleaded not guilty to the charge which alleged that on October 31, 2014 at North Ruimveldt, Georgetown, he broke and entered the dwelling house of Gloria Peters and attempted to commit a felony.
The court heard that the defendant and the victim are known to each other and on the day in question, Peters was at home when Jerome entered and started to choke her. He also threatened to kill her.
She then raised an alarm by screaming, after which Jerome fled the scene. Police prosecutor Adunni Innis, objected to bail on the grounds of the nature and gravity of the offence.
Additionally, Jerome pleaded not guilty to assaulting Jenny Henry, where the Court heard that on September 20, at North Ruimveldt, he threw a large stone at her chest, after she accused him of murder.
As she fell to the ground, he allegedly dealt her a series of cuffs to her face before kicking her in the ribs and stabbed her on her hand.
The accused is slated to reappear in Court on April 08.
