Batting first after winning the toss, the Delhi side crafted 160 runs for the loss of 5 wickets off their 20 overs, 24 off 20 from Murali Vijay while the other two top order batsmen failed miserably; Quinton de Kock making 10 and Kevin Pietersen making 6.

In the bowling department of the Knight Riders, Jacques Kallis; Umesh Yadav, Shakib Al Hasan and Sunil Narine each had a wicket off their maximum amount of overs with Narine bearing the blunt of the blows with 39 runs, Kallis 38, Yadev 26 and Al Hasan 13.
In their response, the KKR side wasted little time in getting their show on the road putting on 106 before the first wicket fell, that of Robin Uthappa who fell three short of his 50.
