[www.inewsguyana.com] – An explosion in Kingston, Georgetown which occurred just after noon on Tuesday (February 25) has left almost all commercial areas in central Georgetown without electricity.
While iNews is yet to secure an official comment from authorities at the Guyana Power and Light (GPL), eyewitness say the explosion came after two live wires, belonging to the power company connected.
One man recalled hearing a loud noise and then seeing fire and smoke, after which the area immediately lost power.
The explosion occurred in the vicinity of the Light House. When this news site visited the area, employees of GPL were seen on sight carrying out an inspection. iNews will bring you more details as it becomes available.
