[www.inewsguyana.com] – Eight beautifully talented girls on Sunday evening (October 6) challenged each other for the title of Miss Guyana Universe 2013 but it was 23 – year old Katherina Roshana Khan who came out victorious amidst the controversy and audience favorites, Ayanna Whitehead and Alicia Bess.
Khan, who is also the reigning Miss India Guyana, got the judges nod after three intense rounds of competition. Second runner-up was Ayanna Whitehead while first went to Alicia Bess.
The Classique Dance Company started off the evening with another spell binding performance which followed the introduction of the delegates.
The swimsuit competition did not disappoint, as the girls paraded in red and yellow two-piece Swimwear. Whitehead and Bess proved to be the top picks in this segment followed by Khan.
In the evening gown segment, it was the top three who seemed to pull away from everyone else. Third place winner, Ayanna Whitehead left some jaws on the ground as she took to the stage in a very daring Haute Couture piece by Randy Madray. First runner up Alicia Bess was the vision of elegance in a bold red gown by Meleesa Payne.
However, it was Khan who sealed the deal in an elegant royal blue gown to secure her space in the top four and eventually the crown itself. Khan succeeds Raquayyah Boyer as Miss Guyana Universe.
