[www.inewsguyana.com] – Joey Jagan, the son of the Late President Dr. Cheddi Jagan has been explicitly critical of the People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) over the last few months, calling out the Party on several serious issues.
In a recent report, the young Jagan is quoted as saying that while he mounted the Party’s platform for the 2011 General and Regional Elections; he will not be doing so this time around since he believes that the Party has strayed from his father’s fundamentals.
But the General Secretary of the PPP/C, Clement Rohee is unfettered by Jagan’s statement, opining that at best he [Joey] may be a “poor politician.”
When questioned about the loss of Jagan’s support for the Party, Rohee said “these positions by Dr. [Joey] Jagan are not surprising. If you were to follow his sojourns politically over the years, you obviously would see the direction in which he is heading…Joey is an excellent dentist, but a poor politician.”
Dr Jagan had made it clear that he has not been invited to any of the functions to commemorate the life of his parents, both of whom are past Presidents, but Rohee said that while he did not specifically peruse the list of invitees, Jagan’s family members are usually among the invitees.
Rohee pointed out too that one of Jagan’s sisters was present was Babu John on Sunday.
The PPP General Secretary said that the Party will continue with its month of activities that are intended to celebrate the lives and work of Janet Jagan and Cheddi Jagan Senior.
