According to a police press statement, “a thorough investigation has been launched following allegations of abuse and threats against a Minister of the Government and her driver at the parking lot of a popular established business premises located at Providence, East Bank Demerara about 20:30hrs last night.”
However, the police also said that “Initial enquiries revealed that both parties seemed to have been very aggressive.”
This online publication was told that the security guard in question failed to recognise Broomes as a Minister and as such, approached her vehicle since it was parked “on a tarmac area” -which was not to be used by the business’ customers.
“The security officer said the individuals in the vehicle were acting in a suspicious manner,” a police source told INews.
Nevertheless, the matter was reported by Broomes, and two security officials implicated were detained, questioned and released on their own recognizance.
