[www.inewsguyana.com] – Insel Air will commence flights from Guyana to Miami through Aruba and Curacao from June 2014 and is the newest airline to enter the local market.
At an event on Friday, April 11 Insel’s Chief Commercial Officer Jurgen Lippinkhof told reporters that the airline would be joining forces with Roraima Airways, adding that Insel Air has several aircraft that presently operate flights throughout the Caribbean.
The airline would be offering introductory prices as low as US$270 to US$345 for round trips. It was noted that the prices are inclusive of all taxes. After six months of flights, Lippinkhof said that the prices will change.
Lippinkhof maintained that the airline is no ‘fly by night’ operation. He explained that Insel Air is a scheduled carrier bounded by international legal obligations.
Meanwhile, Captain Gerry Gouveia said that Roraima Airways was happy to collaborate with Insel Air. He said that this would afford Roraima the opportunity to further extend its reach in diversifying the Guyana Tourism packages.
He noted that Roraima will facilitate the ground handling aspect of the operation while the General Sales Agent will be Diedre Davis. Roraima had previously served as ground handling agent for North American Airlines and Delta, among others.
Gouveia noted that Insel Air will connect the Caribbean and South America by serving many routes. He said that one of the distinguishing advantages of flying with the new airline is the ability to access pre clearance of US customs and Immigration in Aruba, therefore entering the US as a domestic flight.
