Police are now investigating the circumstances surrounding a vessel – “Three Brothers”- catching alight on Monday morning resulting in its captain and a sailor sustaining burns about their bodies.
According to information received, the incident occurred at around 10:00hrs on the day in question.
Police say that preliminary investigations revealed that while the vessel was in the vicinity of the Moruca River, a loud explosion was heard on board and the fire started.
The captain identified as Ramesh Maniram and the sailor, Ventle Jainarine, were reportedly rescued from the burning boat by three other sailors.
Due to them sustaining burns to their lower limbs, the duo were rushed to the Suddie Public Hospital.
They are said to be in a stable condition.
