[www.inewsguyana.com] – West Indies has been confirmed to play a series of three Tests, five One-Day Internationals and one Twenty20 International in India between October 4 and November 18 as part of the International Cricket Council’s Future Tours Programme.
While the dates for the tour are yet to be finalised, the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s tour programme and fixtures committee on Saturday (July 26) named Bangalore, Hyderabad and Ahmedabad as hosts for the Tests, Kolkata, Visakhapatnam, Cuttack, Dharamsala and Kochi for the ODIs, and New Delhi for the T20I. “The exact date-wise match schedule will be finalised later on the basis of logistics,” said Sanjay Patel, the BCCI secretary, in a statement.
This will be West Indies’ second tour to India in as many years. It was in India for Sachin Tendulkar’s farewell Test series in November 2013, and lost both Tests. India also won the subsequent ODI series 2-1.
The upcoming series will take place after the completion of the Champions League T20, to be held in India from September 14 to October 4.
After the West Indies series, India travels to Australia for a four-Test series, with the first Test starting on December 4 at Brisbane.
The Tests will be followed by a triangular ODI series in Australia in January with England as the third country. The 50-over ICC Cricket World Cup will then take place across Australia and New Zealand from February 14 to March 29, where India is in Pool B alongside Pakistan, South Africa, West Indies, Zimbabwe, Ireland and the United Arab Emirates.
