[www.inewsguyana.com] – President Donald Ramotar says the frustration that he encountered during his three year tenure as President as explained by Former President Bharrat Jagdeo is an understatement and putting it “mildly.”

During a ceremony to observe the memory of the founder of the People’s Progressive Party (PPP) at Babu John, Jagdeo had said that “the past three years must have been a nightmare to Ramotar…sometimes we need to administer something else, some kicks up the asses.”

But Ramotar in a subsequent address to crowd said “former President said I must have gone through a lot of frustration over the last three years; and that is putting it mildly…that is putting it very mildly.”

The President lamented that it was indeed bothersome to see several projects that were aimed at the development of Guyana being derailed by the parliamentary opposition.

“To see projects after projects that can transform our country and make it a better place; to see them moving against this – what I did not have in the opposition benches; I did not have patriots – People who were interested in the development of our country and our people. I had narrow minded people who seem to believe that if they can make things bad in our country, if they can drive us back to the lines….that it will change their political fortunes,” Ramotar said.

He said that the Opposition had ample opportunity to use its one seat majority in the National Assembly for the betterment of the country, but instead chose to do the opposite.

“Not one day did they use their one seat majority to say ‘Ramotar build more roads in Berbice, build more schools and hospitals’ – not one single day, instead they used the one seat majority to cut $89B from our budget…I tried, my friends, I really tried.”

Ramotar is seeking to be reelected as President on May 11.
