A woman is now battling for her life at the hospital after she was stabbed to her face and in the stomach by her husband while they were having an argument last night.
INews understands that moments after stabbing his wife the man then hung himself in their KaneVille, East Bank Demerara (EBD) home.
Abina Parker, a former national cricketer, and her husband, Melroy, are said to have had a dispute around 21:00hrs when the stabbing and suicide acts took place.
The former national cricket player was subsequently rushed to the East Bank Demerara Regional Hospital for treatment.
Abina Parker is a member of the Guyana Police Force (GPF) cricket club and had represented Guyana in the West Indies senior regional competition. She is a professional umpire and plays softball cricket. Parker had also captained Demerara in the Inter-county Senior Women’s Tournament.
