[www.inewsguyana.com] – Home Affairs Minister Clement Rohee has issued a very stern warning against drivers with bogus licenses stating that such drivers when found will be dealt with condignly by the Guyana Police Force.
He believes that many of the accidents that occur are caused by drivers with bogus license who never underwent practical or theory driving classes.
“It seems to us that there are a number of persons driving on our roads who either have not attended classes to do theory nor did practical but somehow they are driving on our roads, whenever such persons are found in breach of the law, they will be dealt with condignly,” Minister Rohee told reporters during a press conference on Tuesday, November 5.
The Minister further related that his Ministry has received requests to waive the mandatory two year driving experience to acquire a permit to drive a motor lorry. However, he made it clear that this will not be happening.
The Home Affairs Minister also provided an update on the issuance of plastic driver’s licenses.
“We are currently engaged in discussions with the GRA on a number of issues including plastic driver’s license and other related issues” he added.
The plastic driver’s license will have numerous security features, which will make it difficult to forge.
