[www.inewsguyana.com] – Nigel Hinds has been elected President of the Guyana Amateur Basketball Federation following their Annual General Meeting at the Guyana Olympic Association (GOA) Head Office in Kingston.
Hinds, who opposed Micheal Singh for the presidency of the hooped Sport told iNews Sport recently that if elected, he will be looking to revive the sport in the country by incentivizing it.
He said that for too long, the sport has not been making the amount of money it expends per tournament largely because the lack of crowd pulling elements.
This he plans to change by introducing half time shows during games, as well as giving fans an opportunity to be a part of the action following his 12-10 vote win over Singh.
Singh however will be a Vice President on the Association along with Linden Amateur Basketball Association’s Haslyn Graham and Kenrick Thomas. Dr. Richard Blair has been elected to the post of General Secretary while, Leona Kyte will assume the role of Assistant Secretary,
Clement de Nobriga will take the treasurer position and Cecil Chin will be the Technical Director.
