[www.inewsguyana.com] – Junior Hercules is the new President of the Georgetown Amateur Basketball Association (GABA) following its Annual General Meeting and elections on Sunday, January 25 at Duke Lodge.
Hercules, who was elected unopposed with eight votes, wasted little time in identifying that his Administration will aim to push the development of the sport with a collective approach.
However, Hercules who is also President of the Guyana Amateur Basketball Coaches Association (GABCA) believes that both his portfolios will not result in conflict of interest since both have the objective to improve the sport.
Former President of the GABA, Michael Singh who is also Vice-President of the Guyana Amateur Basketball Federation (GABF), congratulated Hercules and noted that the GABF will continue to support the GABA.
Meanwhile, Adrian Hooper was appointed as Vice-President defeating Ewart Williams with six votes to three while Cheryl Thomas was elected as Secretary of the Association after running against Nadine Luthers-Williams.
Joyce Sullivan was elected as Treasurer unopposed while Luthers-Williams was elected unchallenged as the Assistant Secretary/Treasurer.
The clubs that voted were the Colts, Republic Bank Nets, Eagles, UG Trojans, Plaisance Guardians, Knights and Melanie Patriots while the Dynas Ravens, TGH Pacesetters and Pepsi Sonics were a no show.
