[www.inewsguyana.com] – The People’s Progressive Party (PPP) continued consultations to fill its remaining two seats in the 11th Parliament of Guyana.
One of the replacements is Former Minister of Agriculture Dr. Leslie Ramsammy who was originally listed to serve as a Member of Parliament but has since communicated to the Party the circumstances of his ill-health which renders him unavailable to serve.
In a communication to the Party, Dr. Ramsammy wrote, ‘’ … After being sick and in bed for two weeks in Guyana, I left last week. I have been in hospital in New York and was discharged subsequently. But given my special situation and my deteriorating health, I have decided that I will not be able to serve with the dedication and commitment necessary for the 11th Parliament. I am sorry that I cannot at this time find it possible to continue the fight as a Member of Parliament.”
The Party has since named Mr. Harry Gill as a Member of Parliament filling one of the two vacancies while Ms. Yvonne Pearson will be replacing Former Foreign Affairs Minister Carolyn Rodrigues- Birkette whose work engagements overseas will not allow her to serve as a Member of Parliament at this time.
